Public Alerts

Public alerts in EnaCast let you display prominent messages to your website visitors. These are informational banners that appear prominently and can be used to communicate maintenance notices, schedule changes, emergency information, or any important message.

Each alert has a severity level that determines its visual appearance:

LevelAppearanceRecommended Use
InfoInformational style (blue)News, reminders, general information
WarningWarning style (yellow/amber)Schedule changes, planned maintenance
UrgentUrgency style (red)Emergencies, service interruptions, critical alerts
  1. Log in to the EnaCast admin panel
  2. Go to the Public alerts section
  3. Click Create alert
  4. Fill in the fields:
    • Message: the alert text (maximum 500 characters). Be clear and concise
    • Severity: select the level (info, warning, or urgent)
    • Link (optional): a URL with more information or instructions
    • Visibility: choose where the alert is displayed
    • Enabled: activate the alert to make it visible
  5. Optionally, configure scheduling (see next section)
  6. Save the alert

You can control where the alert is displayed:

OptionDescription
EverywhereThe alert appears on all pages of your website
Homepage onlyThe alert appears only on the homepage

You can set a start date and time and an end date and time so the alert activates and deactivates automatically.

  1. When creating or editing the alert, set the start date (when the alert will begin showing)
  2. Set the end date (when the alert will stop showing)
  3. Save the changes

Automatic activation

The alert will activate and deactivate automatically based on the configured dates. No manual intervention is needed.

  • If you only set the start date, the alert will show from that moment indefinitely (until you manually disable it)
  • If you only set the end date, the alert will show immediately and disappear on the specified date
  • If you set both dates, the alert will only be visible during that period

In addition to date-based scheduling, each alert has an enabled/disabled toggle that lets you:

  • Disable an alert temporarily without deleting it
  • Re-enable an alert you had previously disabled
  • Immediately disable a scheduled alert if circumstances change

If you need to provide more information than fits in the 500-character message, you can add a link. The alert will display a clickable link that takes visitors to the page you specify.

Common uses for the link:

  • A page with detailed information about an incident
  • Contact form
  • Service status page
  • News article related to the notice
  • Short, clear messages: visitors should understand the notice at a glance
  • Use the appropriate level: do not use the urgent level for routine notices
  • Schedule alerts: if you know when something will happen (like maintenance), schedule the alert in advance
  • Set an end date: alerts without an end date can be forgotten and continue showing when they are no longer relevant
  • Review active alerts regularly: make sure there are no expired alerts still visible

Can I Have Multiple Active Alerts at the Same Time?

Section titled “Can I Have Multiple Active Alerts at the Same Time?”

Yes, you can have multiple alerts active simultaneously. All alerts that are enabled and within their scheduled period will be displayed.

It depends on your website design. In most configurations, visitors can dismiss the alert and it will not show again during their session.

The alert disappears from the website immediately and is permanently deleted. If you only want to hide it temporarily, disable it instead of deleting it.

Alerts are shown on the website, including the mobile version of the site. Their availability in native apps depends on each app’s configuration.
