Import From RSS

EnaCast can bring in content from external RSS feeds. From the management panel at studio.enacast.com you can import news articles, one at a time, from the RSS feeds you add. A full import of an episode archive or a news archive (for example, when you move from another platform) is done by the EnaCast team.

Importing news from an RSS feed

1. In the sidebar, under Content, open News and click RSS Feeds

2. Click Add Feed, type the RSS feed URL (for example https://example.com/rss.xml) and click Add

3. On the feed, click Load Items: you will see the list of articles in the feed. View original opens each article on its website

4. Click Import as Draft on the article you want. The news article is created as a draft and opens so you can review and publish it

Articles you have already imported show Already imported, so they are not duplicated. Refresh reads the feed again to pick up new articles, and Delete Feed removes the feed from the list.

Note

Each feed can be added only once: if the URL is already in the list, you will see This feed URL is already added.

Importing a full archive

If you are moving from another platform and want to bring in a program’s whole episode archive from its RSS feed, or all the news from your previous website (from an RSS feed, WordPress or Drupal), write to support@enacast.com with the feed or website URL. The EnaCast team runs the import for you.

In an episode import:

• Each episode’s title, description, original publication date, audio file (downloaded and stored in EnaCast) and duration are imported
• Episodes that already exist in the program (same GUID in the feed) are skipped to avoid duplicates
• If the result is not what you expected, the team can undo the import: every item in that batch is deleted

Note

Duplicate detection is based on the RSS feed’s GUID. If an episode has the same content but a different GUID, it is treated as a new episode.

Frequently asked questions

How long does an episode archive import take?

It depends on the number of episodes and the size of the audio files. Importing 100 episodes can take from 30 minutes to several hours, depending on how fast the source serves the files.

Are the original dates kept?

Yes. Imported episodes keep the original publication date from the RSS feed.

Does the import affect transcriptions?

Imported episodes are not transcribed automatically. Transcription only applies to new episodes recorded directly in EnaCast.
