EnaCast Broadcaster (alpha)

EnaCast Broadcaster replaces the broadcast program you use now on the studio computer. You log in with your EnaCast username and password and the app does the rest: there is no server, port, mount point or streaming password to type. It broadcasts your radio at every quality configured in EnaCast, sends the song title, and can be controlled from EnaCast Studio.

  1. Run the installer you downloaded.
  2. Because the alpha is not signed, Windows may show “Windows protected your PC”. Click More info, then Run anyway.
  3. Follow the wizard. The app installs for your user only and does not need administrator rights.
  1. Make the downloaded file executable: chmod +x enacast-broadcaster-0.1.0-alpha-x86_64.AppImage
  2. Open it with a double click or from a terminal: ./enacast-broadcaster-0.1.0-alpha-x86_64.AppImage
  3. If it does not start and asks for FUSE, install the libfuse2 package (on Ubuntu and Debian: sudo apt install libfuse2).
  1. Open the downloaded disk image and drag EnaCast Broadcaster to the Applications folder.
  2. Because the alpha is not signed by Apple, macOS will not open it the first time. Open the app, click Done in the warning, then go to System Settings → Privacy & Security. At the bottom you will see a note about EnaCast Broadcaster: click Open Anyway, enter your Mac password and confirm with Open Anyway.
  3. When the app asks for access to the microphone, click Allow: it needs it to capture the studio audio. If you denied it, turn it on in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone.
  1. Open the app and log in with your EnaCast Username and Password. If you administer several radios, pick the one you want to broadcast.
  2. Under Input, choose the studio sound card or mixing desk in Input device. The level meters should move with the audio.
  3. Press Go on air. The status changes to On air and your radio starts playing on EnaCast at every quality.
  4. To stop broadcasting, press Stop. The app stays Stopped on this computer until someone puts it on air again.

Under Metadata you can type a Manual title or choose the Now-playing file your automation software writes. If there is neither, the name of the programme in the EnaCast schedule is sent.

Every computer running the app appears in EnaCast Studio → Streamer, in the Broadcaster app section. There you can see whether it is on air, its levels, the title and the connection to each server, and you can change the gain, choose the input or restart it.

Only one computer can be on air at a time. If you put another computer on air, EnaCast asks the first one to stop, and the second starts broadcasting as soon as the first confirms.

Because this is an alpha, we want to hear about everything that does not work well. Write to support@enacast.com with a short description of the problem, your operating system and roughly when it happened.
