Modular Pages

Modular pages are one of EnaCast’s most powerful features. They let you create custom pages by combining different content modules that stack vertically. You can use a modular page as your website’s homepage or as themed landing pages.

What Is a Modular Page?

A modular page is a page composed of content blocks (modules) that you can add, reorder, and configure individually. Each module displays a different type of content:

YouTube	Shows videos from a channel, playlist, or managed videos
Custom Page	Inserts the content of an existing custom page
Banner Group	Shows a banner group
Agenda	Shows upcoming events from the agenda
iFrame	Inserts external content via an iframe
Weather	Shows a weather widget for a city
PDF	Shows a PDF document
Regular sections	Shows a show’s regular sections
Team	Shows the people on the station’s team

If the page uses the Masonry static (zero-flash, beta) Layout strategy, some module types do not appear when you add a module, because that layout does not support them.

Creating a Modular Page

1. Log in to the management panel at studio.enacast.com. In the sidebar, under Website, open Modular Pages
2. Click New Page
3. Fill in the basic fields:
   • Page name: the page title
   • Slug (URL): the page address on your website. It is generated from the name and only accepts lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens
   • Enabled: activate the page to make it visible
   • Set as home page: enable this option if you want this to be your website’s main page
   • Masonry layout: modules are shown in a masonry grid
   • Start from a template (optional): Blank page or one of your templates
4. Click Create page

Note

Only one homepage can be active at a time. If you mark a new page as the homepage, the previous one will automatically stop being the homepage.

Adding Modules

Creating the page opens Edit Modular Page straight away; later you can come back to it with the Edit icon in the list or the Edit button on the page’s detail view. The screen has two tabs, Modules and Configuration, and a Preview of the public page on the right, as listeners will see it.

1. Click Add module and choose the module type
2. Configure the module (show, tag, banner group, etc.) and its layout (see below)
3. Click Add module: the module appears in the list, at the bottom of the page

To change an existing module, expand its card in the list: changes are saved automatically.

Layout of Each Module

Every module, whatever its type, shares these options:

• Width: 33%, 50%, 67% or 100% of the page. Two modules at 50% sit side by side; on mobile every module takes the full width.
• Height: automatic (fits the content) or a fixed height in pixels.
• Decoration: the module’s frame with its title. Turn it off to show only the content, with no frame or title.
• Background: the frame colour. Theme default (the site’s grey), None (no background or border; title and spacing are kept), Primary colour (your station’s colour, to highlight the module) or Custom (any colour). The text colour adapts automatically so it stays readable.
• Mobile and Desktop: on which devices the module is shown.

Note

Background only applies while Decoration is on: without a frame there is nothing to colour.

Reordering Modules

Drag the cards in the list by the Drag to reorder handle to change their position. The order is saved automatically.

Tip

Changes show up on the public site (and in the Preview) usually within a minute.

Podcast Module

The Podcast module shows the latest published episodes. You can configure:

• Program: select a specific show or All programs
• Filter by tag (optional): filter episodes by show tag
• Number of episodes: how many episodes to display

News Module

The news module shows the latest published news articles. You can configure:

• Tag - Optional: filter by a specific news tag, or All news
• News to display: how many articles to display
• Card type: Small (simple list), Medium (card), or Large (card)
• Orientation: Vertical or Horizontal

Regular Sections Module

Shows a program’s regular sections. When you add it, choose Regular sections and set:

• Program: required.
• Section: with All sections of the program, the module shows one card per section (image, name, guests and usual days) linking to its page. If you pick one section (for example, La Rambla – Espai de Nutrició), it shows its image, its guests and its latest broadcasts, which play in the website’s player without leaving the page, with Play all to hear them in a row and a link to All broadcasts of ….
• Latest broadcasts to show: 1 to 20 (6 by default). Only applies when you pick a single section.

If the chosen section is deactivated, the module shows all the program’s sections instead; if the program has none, the module is not shown. With an empty title, the module uses the section’s name.

Page Templates

If you have a module layout you want to reuse, save it as a template:

1. Open the modular page (its detail view, not the editor) and click Save as template
2. Give it a name and, optionally, a description
3. When creating a New modular page, pick it under Start from a template: the page is created with every module of the template, ready to edit

Templates keep the type, size and settings of each module, including the selected show, tag or album. To delete a template, pick it in the same dropdown and click the bin icon.

Footer Link

Just like custom pages, modular pages can show a link in the footer of your website:

1. Open Edit Modular Page and go to the Configuration tab
2. Enable Show link in footer
3. Set the Footer position (the lowest number appears first)
4. Changes are saved automatically; if you don’t want to wait, click Save

You can also do it from the Modular Pages list: in the Footer column, click Add to Footer or Remove.

Homepage

To set a modular page as your website’s homepage:

1. Open Edit Modular Page for the page you want to use as the homepage and go to the Configuration tab
2. Enable the Home page option
3. Changes are saved automatically; if you don’t want to wait, click Save

The homepage is the first thing visitors see when they access your website.

The homepage is always enabled: it cannot be deactivated or deleted. To change it, mark another page as Home page; the previous one stops being the homepage and you can then deactivate or delete it.

A page that is not Enabled is not shown on your website (not even at its own address), but it stays in EnaCast Studio: you can open it, edit it and activate it again whenever you want.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Many Modules Can I Add to a Page?

There is no strict limit. You can add as many modules as you need, although it is recommended not to overload the page to maintain good loading speed.

Can I Have Multiple Modular Pages?

Yes, you can create multiple modular pages. Each will have its own URL, and you can link them from navigation menus.

Do Modules Update Automatically?

Yes, modules always display the most recent content. For example, the news module will automatically show the latest published articles without needing to manually update the page.

Can I Hide a Module on Mobile?

Yes, each module has options to control whether it is shown on desktop, mobile, or both.
