Creating an Episode Manually

Besides automatic recording, EnaCast lets you create episodes manually by uploading an audio file. This is useful when you have external recordings, pre-recorded interviews or content that does not come from the live broadcast.

Uploading an episode

1. Open the management panel at studio.enacast.com
2. In the sidebar, under Content, open Episodes
3. Click New Episode in the top right
4. In Pick a program, choose the program the episode belongs to. The rest of the form appears once you pick one
5. Fill in the Title and Description (both are required) and, optionally, a Custom Image
6. Set the Publish Date and Time and, if you do not want it visible yet, turn on Hide episode
7. Under Audio, on the Upload MP3 tab, click Upload file or drag the MP3 file in
8. Click Create Episode

Audio file requirements

Format and size

• Format: MP3
• Maximum size: 200 MB
• The system automatically calculates the episode’s duration from the uploaded file

Stable connection

If your file is large, make sure you have a stable Internet connection during the upload. If the connection drops, you will have to upload the file again.

Extracting the audio from the 24-hour recording

Instead of uploading a file, the Extract from 24h tab creates the episode from the station’s continuous recording: pick one of the program’s Last airings, or Custom to enter the start and end date and time. Each extraction can be at most 4 hours long.

Episode details

Program

The episode belongs to the program you choose in Pick a program and inherits its settings (default image, transcription, tags, etc.).

Title and description

• Title: the episode name listeners will see
• Description: a more detailed description of the content

If the program has transcription enabled, the AI also generates its own title, summary and tags, which you will see on the episode’s page.

Image

You can upload a Custom Image for the episode. If you do not upload one, the program logo is used.

Publishing options

The episode is published according to the Publish Date and Time you set:

If…	The episode…
The date is now or in the past	Is published as soon as it is created and is available on the website and in the RSS feed
The date is in the future	Is not visible on the website until that date and time
You turn on Hide episode	Is not visible on the website until you show it from its page or from the episode list

Tip

If you need to review the episode before publishing it (for example, to add markers), create it with Hide episode turned on and show it later.

Automatic processing

Once uploaded, the episode goes through the same automatic processing as episodes recorded live:

• Cloud upload: the file is copied to the storage servers to make sure it is always available
• Transcription: if the program has transcription enabled and there is daily budget left, the episode is transcribed automatically
• AI insights: after transcription, a title, summary, tags and sections are generated according to the configured transcription level
• Waveform: a waveform of the audio is generated for the editor

Frequently asked questions

Can I upload files that are not MP3?

Only MP3 is supported for now. If your audio is in another format (WAV, FLAC, AAC…), convert it to MP3 before uploading.

What happens if I upload a file larger than 200 MB?

The system rejects the file. If your recording is very long, split it into parts or lower the MP3 quality to reduce its size.

Does a manually uploaded episode appear in the RSS feed?

Yes, once published, the episode appears in the program’s RSS feed like any automatically recorded episode.

Can I edit an episode after uploading it?

Yes. From the episode’s page in EnaCast Studio you can Edit the title, description, image and date, and add markers in Audio / Markers. What you cannot do is trim the audio of an uploaded episode: it has no original recording. If you need to trim it, edit the MP3 on your computer and upload it again from Edit.
