Pre-Roll Intro

A pre-roll is an MP3 audio file that plays automatically to each listener once, right before the live stream begins. It’s perfect for station jingles, sponsor messages, or legal disclaimers.

When a listener connects to your radio’s live stream:

  1. The server plays the full pre-roll audio
  2. When it finishes, it automatically connects to the live broadcast
  3. The listener continues listening normally

The pre-roll plays once per connection. If the listener reloads the page or reconnects, they will hear it again.

  1. Go to Streams in the sidebar menu of the admin panel.

  2. In the Pre-roll intro card, click Select MP3 file.

  3. Choose an MP3 file from your computer. You can preview it with the built-in player before uploading.

  4. Click Upload to send the file to the server.

  5. Once processed, listeners who connect will hear the pre-roll before the live stream.

If your radio already has a pre-roll configured, you’ll see a built-in audio player in the pre-roll card. You can listen to it directly from the panel to verify it’s the correct file.

To change the pre-roll to a different file, click Replace file and select the new MP3. The previous file will be replaced automatically.

If you no longer want listeners to hear an intro:

  1. In the pre-roll card, click Remove.

  2. Confirm the action in the confirmation dialog.

  3. Listeners will connect directly to the live stream, without an intro.

Format and Size

  • MP3 files only — other audio formats are not supported.
  • Maximum size: 10 MB — enough for several minutes of audio.

Recommended Duration

Keep it as short as possible (a few seconds). Each listener must wait for the pre-roll to finish before hearing the live stream. A pre-roll longer than 10 seconds may cause listeners to leave before reaching the actual programming.

The pre-roll does not affect automatic recordings of your shows. EnaCast’s recording system connects to a special mount point that doesn’t include the pre-roll, so recorded episodes contain only the program audio.
